Cllr Scott Arthur was first elected to City of Edinburgh Council in 2017, and appointed as Transport & Environment Committee Convener in May 2022 and Chair of Transport for Edinburgh. He’s committed to working cross-party with residents and employers to ensure Edinburgh meets its climate obligations, cuts congestion and reduces the miles driven in the city by 30%. 2023/24 will be a huge year for the Committee he chairs as consultation outcomes are published on the actions which will enable these aims to be met.
With a new tramline opened, bus patronage growing and major active travel projects being delivered at pace in partnership with Sustrans, Scott feels that Edinburgh is at a tipping point in its sustainable transport transition.
Outside City of Edinburgh Council, Scott is a Civil Engineering professor with interests in sustainable urban flood risk management.
