SNP Councillor for Liberton Gilmerton, Lesley is the Transport & Environment Convener for the City of Edinburgh Council and Chair of Transport for Edinburgh (TfE), as well as Deputy Leader of the SNP group on the Council. She lives in the ward she represents.

For many years she lived and worked around Geneva in Switzerland as part of the senior management team for an international NGO dealing with humanitarian clearing of landmines and cluster munitions. Most of her working life has been in the public sector in communications, inward investment and NGO management.

During her time on the Council she has led on the delivery of far-reaching, innovative strategies which will change the shape of Edinburgh’s transport and place-making environment – notably the City Centre Transformation strategy, the Low Emission Zone, the major infrastructure Tram Extension project, and the City Mobility Plan which provides an effective 10 year blue print to move the city towards achieving its 2030 net zero carbon goals and for creating a sustainable, inclusive and healthy transport environment in Edinburgh.
