In September 2019 she took the role of Director of Place, which in spring 2024 was retitled Director of Investment and Growth.
As Newcastle City Council’s Director of Investment and Growth, Michelle plays a crucial part in ensuring that the wealth generated by the city benefits every resident as part of an inclusive economy.
Michelle oversees the functions of Planning, Highways, Property, Major Projects, Housing and Commercial so is key to how the city continues to grow and thrive. Michelle also holds responsibility for Economic Development, Culture and Events and works closely with private industry to ensure the needs of residents are met.
Michelle’s background is in the property sector, and she first joined Newcastle City Council in October 2016 having worked in development projects across the city.
The investment opportunities presented by devolution means it is an exciting time for the Newcastle city region and Michelle is a key part of a team who are building a better future for the city and its residents.
