Patrick Warner is a man with three jobs…
Firstly, Head of Innovation Strategy for Go Ahead Group’s south eastern based bus operations, ‘Brighton & Hove Buses’ and ‘Metrobus’, with services spanning no less than five county or unitary authority areas: Brighton & Hove City Council, East Sussex, West Sussex, Surrey and Kent. Patrick leads on Innovation Strategy across the business and has also been involved in the Group wide bus and rail innovation accelerator program, Billion Journey Project since it’s inception. Current focus is on the drive to transition to a zero emission fleet and to attract not only the funding to do this but also build the kind of relationships with stakeholders that will support that transition with improved infrastructure to slash bus journey times, grow patronage and help generate the kind of modal shift that all partners want to see.
Also, on a part time secondment to the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority as Lead Officer for Bus Decarbonisation, Patrick is leading on the deployment of the first hydrogen fuel cell electric buses in the region and developing a strategy for the transition of the wider 1,000 bus city region fleet to zero emissions.
Finally, if that wasn’t enough to fully occupy his time, Patrick has stepped up alongside well respected and recently retired First Bus Bristol & Bath MD, James Freeman, to help direct the evolution of BRT UK. BRT UK was set up originally to champion and share best practice for the creation of new bus based rapid transit schemes. However, in the post pandemic world, this is starting to expand to include general quality bus improvements, the transition to zero emission buses and the wider aspiration for improvements included in the recently launched National Bus Strategy.
