William is Professor of Atmospheric Science at the University of Birmingham. His background spans laboratory studies of polar stratospheric ozone depletion, field measurements of atmospheric composition ranging from Birmingham to Antarctica, and use of numerical models to predict air quality. He currently leads the NERC WM-Air project, which encompasses a range of case studies applying research science alongside partners ranging from local authorities to SMEs, in support of improved air quality and health across the West Midlands.
