Steve Hayes is Head of Transport at Milton Keynes Council – the UK’s fastest growing city and leading city for transport innovation. He has responsibility for the Council’s Mobility Strategy and works with partners across the public and private sectors to support transport innovation, including Mobility as a Service, Connected and Autonomous Vehicles, transport electrification and demand responsive solutions. The role also includes developing the city’s public transport systems, managing 21,000 on-street parking spaces, regulation of taxis and developing and promoting active travel – including the UK’s largest off-road cycle network.

Prior to joining Milton Keynes Council, Steve was Partnerships Manager at Transport for West Midlands where he led the region’s partnership with bus operators to deliver a range of initiatives to transform bus travel. This included network reviews, smart ticketing, world-class infrastructure, improved marketing and information, and the establishing of the acclaimed West Midlands Bus Alliance.
