Last month, at TRANSPORT Smart Class, South West England & Wales 2018, BetterPoints’ Director of Programmes, Hannah Bowden, talked to us about the evolution of behaviour change programmes that encourage active and sustainable travel, from web based, retrospective self-report to smartphone based tracking and real time evaluation. Hannah shared the results and lessons from a two-year large-scale intervention in Bologna, Italy and from the Travel West Challenge, with particular discussion around the optimal use of incentives and gamification. She also reviewed how we can use the data from such programmes not only to target future behaviour change interventions but also to inform city planning.
