Transport for the South East is an emerging Sub National Transport Body. Their mission is to grow the South East’s economy by delivering a safe, sustainable, and integrated transport system that makes the area more productive and improves the quality of life for all residents, and protects and enhances its natural and built environment. Last month, at TRANSPORT Smart Class, London & South East England 2019, Rob Dickin explored the potential role that smart mobility initiatives will play in helping TfSE to achieve this mission as part of their emerging transport strategy. Whilst smart mobility has the potential to offer travellers more choice, reduce congestion and emissions and make more efficient use of existing infrastructure, it also has the potential to exacerbate existing problems. Rob’s closing keynote identified the issues that need to be addressed to ensure that smart mobility initiatives can be shaped in a way that will ensure TfSE’s mission is accomplished.
