Transport for London is the integrated transport body for the Capital responsible for moving people and goods around London. As Head of Commercial Innovation, Rikesh Shah is accountable for setting the culture and processes around TfL’s engagement with market innovators. By shaping the eco-system of innovative companies and institutes, TfL’s commercial innovation function is able to set out clear challenges, engage with the most innovative companies from across the world, curate and incubate the best ideas and then scale them to support the delivery of, Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan’s Transport Strategy: “At its heart is a bold aim for 80% of all trips in London to be made on foot, by cycle or using public transport by 2041” (Valerie Shawcross, Deputy Mayor of Transport). Recent challenges include more active travel in London, reducing the adverse impacts of roadworks, bringing in the most innovative retailers into TfL’s estate and improving bus safety.
Last Wednesday, at TRANSPORT Smart Class, London & South East England 2019, we were delighted to welcome Rikesh back as our opening keynote speaker.
