A spin off from the successful Artemis Racing America’s Cup team, Artemis Technologies is a world leading high-performance maritime design and applied technologies company who have developed high-speed zero-emission electric foiling vessels in Belfast. Their current vessel range includes the 12m Artemis EF-12 Workboat and Artemis EF-12 CTV (Crew Transfer Vessel).
As lead partner in the Belfast Maritime Consortium’s Strength in Places programme, Artemis Technologies is developing a 24m EF-24 Passenger ferry which will be launched in 2024, with the pilot scheme running between Belfast and Bangor (Northern Ireland) and operated by Condor Ferries. The ferry will be a cost-effective public transport solution that helps address air pollution, congestion, and noise: “A game changer that encourages multimodal transport in urban areas, enabling cities around the world to utilise and benefit from the untapped potential of their waterways”.
At TRANSPORT Smart Class, Northern Ireland 2023, SiP Programme Director, Dr Katrina Thompson shared insights into the innovative technologies underpinning Artemis Technologies’ pioneering vessels, their capabilities, benefits and potential to lead the decarbonisation of maritime industry. Katrina’s presentation explained how these vessels, powered by the patented Artemis eFoiler® electric propulsion system, provide commercially-viable green transport solutions for individuals, operators, cities and governments, with varying applications within workboat, public transport, port operations and luxury leisure sectors.
For the Q&A and deeper dive roundtable discussions, Katrina was supported by Artemis Technologies’ CEO (and double Olympic champion), Dr Iain Percy OBE, and Research Engineer, Dr Benoit Lecallard.
