I am an ecological consultant and ecoacoustics expert with over 30 years of experience in sustainable development and conservation. As Director of Ecoacoustics/Technical Director at Baker Consultants, and Director at Soil Acoustics Ltd., I combine technical leadership with in-depth field and data analysis expertise. I specialize in delivering ecoacoustic data solutions for conservation, environmental impact assessments (EIA), and biodiversity monitoring.

My scientific research and applied project work span the UK and Europe, providing biodiversity information through the capture and analysis of acoustic data. I have led numerous large-scale assessments in land management, housing, commercial, transport, and energy sectors, offering critical insights to clients including LVMH, The Royal Parks, and the Peak District National Park. Through developing advanced ecoacoustic methodologies, I work to set new standards in wildlife and ecosystem monitoring, with guidance published in scientific journals, professional publications, and government reports.

I have extensive experience in habitat management, mitigation strategies, and the conservation of rare and protected species. My focus is on advancing sustainable environmental practices through innovative ecoacoustic solutions and effective biodiversity management. My research and publications emphasize bioacoustics as a tool for biodiversity assessment, habitat management, and understanding climate impacts, with recent work highlighting ecoacoustics applications for soil health and biodiversity net gain.

Throughout my career, I have held consultancy roles at URS, BSG Ecology, and Atkins, as well as conservation management posts with the National Trust and Severn Trent Water. Additionally, I am a part-time Senior Lecturer at Nottingham Trent University, where I teach Environmental Impact Assessment and Ecological Consultancy, contributing to the education of future ecologists.

Recognized for my contributions to the field, I have been awarded Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) and included in the ENDS Report Power List as one of the UK’s most influential environmental professionals.
