Pete Bond is the Director of Integrated Transport Services at Transport for West Midlands (TfWM), the transport authority for the West Midlands. In this role, he leads the operational delivery of the region’s bus network and plays a pivotal part in developing both formal and informal partnerships, including the award‑winning West Midlands Bus Alliance.
With a strong focus on creating an innovative, reliable, and customer‑centred transport network, Pete oversees a wide portfolio spanning Customer Services, bus station and interchange operations, operational assets, and delivery of capital projects including the new Interchange at Dudley. His responsibilities also include the transformation of the West Midlands Bus On Demand service for the region’s most vulnerable residents, supporting the transition of bus fleets toward zero‑emission cleanliness, and driving the development of new cross‑city bus routes that strengthen community connectivity and create a more seamless, integrated network for passengers.
Pete was instrumental in the region’s full franchising assessment—an extensive process that ultimately led to the decision to bring bus services under public control in the West Midlands.
Pete brings nearly 30 years of experience across the transport sector, including freight, shipping, logistics, and event operations. He is also a former time‑served London bus driver, giving him hands‑on insight into the operational realities of frontline transport services.
He is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) and a PCV licence holder.
